Podocarpus can be evergreen shrubs or trees, with spirally arranged leaves which may be linear or narrowly lanceolate. Found in the wild in Chile where conversion from natural to plantation forest has seen a substantial decline in the population size and distribution.

Hand grafted and propagated at Lime Cross Nursery Podocarpus 'Young Rusty' is a dwarf, slow-growing conifer of bushy habit. The bronzed green foliage turns a rusty brown colour in winter and has bright red-orange tips in spring.
