Microbiota are low-growing or prostrate evergreen coniferous shrubs with tiny triangular green scale-like leaves becoming bronze in winter; flowers and cones are small and inconspicuous. In its natural habitat it can be found on slops and boulder fields with little soil and deep snow cover in winter.

Microbiota Decussata is unusual low spreading conifer with small scale[1]like green foliage turning bronze-purple in the winter. A great conifer for ground cover. Hand grafted and propagated at Lime Cross Nursery.
