The trunk is single or multi-stemmed, often branching from the base, forming a conical or pyramid crown. The beaches are spreading or ascending, occasionally rooting and forming new trunks.

Propagated at Lime Cross Nursery, Thuja occidentalis 'Amber Glow' is one of the best new introductions of recent years, being a very slow growing globe which is bright yellow in summer and turning amber to orange in winter. Very good container conifer, tolerant and hardy.
